This is officially my first pregnancy blog entry! Yeah!!! Today I am six weeks and four days pregnant. So I have a little catching up that I need to do, but I'm not too far behind.
We had our first ultrasound today. It wasn't the kind that you see them do on TV were they put that cool gel on your stomach and move it around as you look at the screen. This one was just a wee bit different. It was a endovaginal. Before the ultrasound, I'm in the room with my husband, Dennis, and the lady who was giving a interview of sorts. She asked if I had ever had a vaginal ultrasound. I told her no and then she gets this coy smile on her face and starts fidgeting. She stammered at bit as she tried to describe the process. It was kinda funny as she seemed a bit uncomfortable with the fact that I hadn't had it done before and she had to prepare me for it. She tried unsuccessfully to choose her words carefully especially with Dennis there looming in the background. I smiled as I thought to myself, she does know how I got pregnant, doesn't she?
Well, a long story short, I think the lady made it sound a bit more intimidating that it really was. It was minimal discomfort and the results are way worth it. This is what they do for early ultrasound because you can pick up so much more. It's pretty standard for ultrasounds before 17 weeks or so they tell me. At any rate, we got to see our baby (.69 cm) and the measured the heart beat (124 bpm). How awesome is that!?!?!? So we are pretty excited and I've been grinning from ear to ear.
